Intimate New York City wedding

Friday November 27, 2012.

It was an ordinary day with a small gesture that led to long-term love. That's the exact day Suzanne and Maciej fell for each other. The place: a movie theater in Mahwah, New Jersey, with Red Dawn on the screen and Suzanne needing a drink of water. The gesture: Maciej offered to get it for her. And that was it.

They'd had crushes on each other since middle school but that was the moment.

Five years later Maciej is still attentive. And Suzanne still appreciates the small gestures. Their wedding and reception was warm and intimate and including friends they've known more than half their lives.

We took portraits in Central Park, which was alive with spring blossoms and random passersby.

The rustic industrial reception in the heart of Little Italy included a slideshow created by the bridesmaids of photos of the couple since they were babies, which brought tears to Maciej and Suzanne and laughter and tears from everybody else. Both moms cried.

In lieu of traditional wedding cake, the couple had real New York cheesecake, which disappeared in minutes. Their first dance was to the '80s classic In Your Eyes.

Their wedding was warm, intimate and unique. Congratulations Maciej and Suzanne.
