30 charming small Hudson Valley wedding venues for 2022

Covid-19 forced a small wedding on many couples over the past two years whether they wanted one or not. But small weddings have advantages that I predict will make them a popular choice for years to come - less stress, less expense, more attention to detail, and more time with each guest. Personally, I love photographing smaller weddings because the couples are more relaxed and there is more focus on people than on logistics.

The Hudson Valley has dozens of venues that qualify as small, intimate or micro. While many large venues have made adjustments to accommodate smaller weddings during Covid, all of the venues listed here are permanently small - meaning you can book an intimate wedding for 2025 if you want. Each venue has options for less than 100 guests. This list is just a start. More venues will be added in the weeks to come.

The Inn at Kettleboro

321 State Route 208, New Paltz, NY

The Inn can host elopements or small weddings up to 50 guests inside the beautifully decorated historic home or up to 75 for a larger outdoor reception with a sweeping view of the Shawangunk Ridge. Any weekend event includes the 4 guest rooms with breakfast in the cost of the venue. Prices vary depending on the number of people in the gathering. Kettleboro can recommend caterers, rentals and other vendors.

City Winery Hudson Valley

23 Factory St, Montgomery, NY

City Winery's main venue space can host up to 400 but this newly renovated industrial-style mill also has smaller spaces for receptions of up to 60 guests.

Caldwell House

25 Orrs Mills Rd, Salisbury Mills, NY (near Cornwall)

This bed and breakfast can host up to 40 guests in the beautifully renovated Caldwell Barn.

Brown Barn Farms

286 Maple Ave., New Hampton (near Middletown)

This 100-year-old barn can host 50 guests indoors or up to 70 outdoors. The barn is surrounded by 23 acres of land, includes fire pits and corn hole and, bonus, in late summer you can enjoy a lovely field of sunflowers.

Arrowood Farm Brewery

236 Lower Whitfield Rd., Accord, NY 12404

The Pavilion can accommodate up to 100 guests and includes seating and tables, a dance floor, outdoor bar and electrical hookup. The Brewery and Tasting Room can fit up to 75 guests and includes a dance floor, large blue stone patio, staffed bar, indoor and outdoor seating, bathroom, kitchen and electrical hookup.

Lamb's Hill

Beacon, NY

Lamb's Hill has a gorgeous outdoor ceremony location with sweeping views of the Hudson River valley. Inside features a rustic yet airy space with room for 50 guests.

The Spruces Hudson Valley

328 North St, Newburgh, NY

The Spruces is a funky rustic barn venue and lawn set on three acres for weddings from 25 to 150 people.

The Barn at Twiggy's

2629 route 302 Middletown, NY

This new venue hosts events up to 75 people. Rental includes farmhouse-style tables and chairs.

The Stagecoach Inn

268 Main Street

Goshen, NY

In addition to five guest rooms, the historic Stagecoach Inn includes two dining rooms, a living room, a bar, an outdoor porch and a new event space. Private dining rooms can accommodate about 25 guests. The event space can host 40-100 guests and the connected porch can add 30 to 40 more guests.

The Barn at Watergrasshill

105 Phillies Bridge Rd, New Paltz, NY 12561

Watergrasshill is a bed and breakfast sitting on 15 acres and includes a barn reception venue that accommodates up to 50 guests. The barn features a mountain view.

Ole Savannah

100 Rondout Landing, Kingston, NY

This waterfront warehouse sits right on Rondout Creek and only steps from the Hudson River. The restaurant can be rented for smaller weddings and has a minimum of 20 guests.

Plan Bee Farm Brewery

115 Underhill Road, Poughkeepsie, NY

This brewery, housed in an 1830s barn, has a site fee of $1,000 to $2,000 and can accommodate 50 guests inside or up to 100 with a tent. Plan Bee isn't just a brewery. It's also a 25-acre organic farm producing grain, hops, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The site fee includes fire pits, corn hole, farm animals and a covered stage. There is no catering kitchen, but you can use their refrigerator and freezer.

Honor's Haven Retreat

Honor's Haven has a large ballroom but also two smaller rooms that accommodate less than 100 guests and offer lake and mountain views

St. Hubert's Lodge & Club

626 Lattintown Road

Marlboro, NY 12542

The lodge specializes in small or micro weddings and offers event space for 50 people, either in our lodge or by the lake. They also can accommodate up to 20 overnight guests in seven guest suites.

FEAST at Roundhill

Only one wedding per day is hosted at this historic estate, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. However, micro weddings are an option here. There is no site fee. You are paying for the catering.

Buttermilk Falls Inn

The Riverfront Patio accommodates up to 200 guests, but the adjacent barn venue site is for intimate weddings of 40 to 90 guests. The barn site fee is $2,500. All catering is provided by the farm-to-table restaurant Henry’s at the Farm.

Locust Grove Estate

This historic estate can accommodate 75 to 150 guests in its main gallery room, which features a vaulted ceiling and walls of windows.

Mt. Gulian

145 Sterling Street

Beacon, NY 12508

This Dutch homestead features a 1720s barn with original plank floors and hand-hewn beams. The barn can accommodate up to 135 guests for a sit down dinner, from May through October. There is no minimum on guest size. Site fees range from $4,800 to $5,500 depending on the month. The fee doesn't include tables or chairs but the venue does provide a list of recommended rental vendors. The site fee includes use of the historic barn, a portion of the house, restored gardens, and amazing views of the Hudson River.

Boscobel House and Gardens

This neoclassical mansion and museum offers an intimate wedding "Carriage House Package" for events up to 70 guests, starts at $7,500. Private rentals require a membership of $1,500 for events of up to 100 guests. (For larger weddings,  Boscobel offers its new West Meadow Pavilion, which can seat up to 250 with room for a dance floor and starts at $12,500,)

Mountainville Manor

Mountainville, NY 10953

Mountainville Manor offers three event spaces in this restored 19th-Century mansion. The Manor sits on three acres at the base of the Schunemunk Mountain and specializes in award-winning farm-to-table dining. This is a newer boutique wedding venue hosting only one wedding at a time. Under normal circumstances the minimum is 75-110, depending on the day and time of year. Premium season weekend dates starting at $155 per person. Mountainville is offering all-inclusive micro wedding packages starting at $4,500.

Arrow Park

1061 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, NY 10950

Arrow Park is a private estate that offers a historic mansion, private lake and 2,100 acres of woodland. It also has a picturesque tree-lined lane. Elopements and small weddings range from $1,600 to $15,000 and can include a full menu, cake and DJ. Small weddings range from 25 to 50 guests. You can also add overnight accommodations in the mansion.

The Barn at Colden House

N. Drury Lane

Newburgh, NY

This very rustic 250-year-old barn can host events up to 75 people. Guests can also stay at the adjacent guest house. Mini and micro events include up to 25 guests in the barn and overnight accommodations for 14 guests in the house starting at $5,000.

Hutton Brickyards

200 North St., Kingston, NY 

The Hutton Brickyards is huge so it may not be the first place you think of for an intimate wedding venue. But it includes four event spaces, the smallest of which can accommodate a minimum of 50 people. Venue rental starts at $4,500 for private events.

The Belltower

398 Main St., Rosendale, NY

This is a former Dutch Reformed Church with a venue fee that runs about $4,000, The Belltower can accommodate a maximum of 120 guests in its 2,500 square feet,

Brotherhood Winery

100 Brotherhood Plaza Drive, Washingtonville, NY

Smaller weddings can be hosted in the renovated Tasting Room, which features stone walls, slate floors, chandeliers and modern tables, or in the Historic Mansion, providing a "grand estate experience". Both of the smaller indoor spaces can host up to 75 guests. The site fee will run about $6,000, depending on the season and room, and includes chairs and tables.

Storm King Tavern

18 Ridge Road, Cornwall, New York

This restaurant venue located at the Storm King Golf Club has sweeping views views of the Hudson Highlands. Located at historic Storm King Golf Club and can accommodate 40 to 110 in two dining rooms.

The Pallet Barn

9 Christmas Tree Drive, Wallkill, NY

The Pallet Barn is located on a tree farm of about 5,000 spruce and fir trees just outside of Pine Bush, New York. The venue hosts a minimum of 30 guests and a maximum of 100 and includes chairs, tables, kitchen and outdoor picnic tables.

Lundy Farm

895 Lundy Rd., Wawarsing, NY 12489

This 62-acre estate includes two villas (which sleeps up to 25 adults) and all of its facilities and amenities for a maximum of 100 guests. Buyout pricing for 2022 starts at $6,500 per night plus tax. A three-night minimum is required on weekends. A one-time $100 per person venue fee will also be charged for events with more than 30 total attendees.

Elmrock Inn

4496 US Route 209, Stone Ridge, NY

Enjoy mountain views at this Dutch Colonial farmhouse, which offers a variety of elopement and micro wedding packages that include in-house farm-to-table catering. Host up to 50 guests indoors. (Elmrock also offers larger outdoor and tented weddings.) Up to 14 guests can stay at this bed and breakfast.

Castle Hotel & Spa

This legit historic castle offers a micro wedding service that includes a three-hour rental of one of the large rooms (Great Hall, Marble Hall or Library Room) and seating for 20 guests. Fees range from $1,300 to $1,900.

The Bird & Bottle Inn

This new for 2022 venue has no minimum guest count. (They do have a food and beverage minimum of $22,500.) Most ceremonies and receptions at this historic inn occur outside as the property includes a tent. Five guest suites can house up to 12 guests onsite. The maximum guest count is 150.
